Samsung unveiled the Sliding PC 7 Series – a 10.1" Windows 7 tablet/slider. It can be used comfortably as a tablet, but in fact the whole thing is one big slider. It’s an interesting take on the netbook form factor and it’s powered by Intel’s latest Atom platform (Oak Trail) aimed specifically at mobile computers and tablets.
The Samsung Sliding PC 7 Series packs a 10.1" display with 1366×768 pixels resolution and ambient light sensor, but it has touch capabilities too. But unlike common tablets, with the 7 Series you can slide out a 80/81 key keyboard, for much better typing experience.
The Samsung Sliding PC 7 Series is powered by an Intel Atom Z670 processor clocked at 1.66GHz with 2GB of RAM. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium with a custom Samsung app launcher.
The Sliding PC 7 Series relies on an SSD drive for storage (32GB or 64GB), which lets Windows boot in just 15 seconds or wake up from hibernation in 3 seconds. On the connectivity front, there’s an HDMI port (Oak Trail should handle HD content without breaking a sweat) and Wi-Fi b/g/n with DLNA. There’s optional 3G/WiMAX connectivity too.
