We've seen some great gadgets and equipment for designers. So many cool stuff, that we could actually assemble infinite perfect office spaces! Every week we'll assemble a perfect office, and we'd like you to help us. What equipment would the perfect office have?

Not only gadgets and equipment, but also furniture, sound system, gaming stuff (for lunch time!). A designer is totally allowed to dream with the perfect office, and that's what we're gonna do here! New Star Wars Bookends Feature Boba Fett And Co.

What you see below are a pair of Jabba’s Palace themed bookends for whatever collection of yours needs bookending. It stars Boba Fett plus that orc dude with an axe, another bounty hunter who’s actually Princess Leia in disguise, and dear old Hans Solo in his carbonite prison. (at Geeky Gadgets)

Puzzling Optical Illusion Bookshelf with a Beautiful Minimalist Design

This highly creative shelving system was designed by John Leung from ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects and has a very intriguing appearance. According to the designer “the bookshelf looks cartoony and almost invisible but that’s not even the real illusion, the real mind bender is that there are what seems like 4 shelves on the left side but only 3 shelves on the right side”. We really like this feature, even though it could cause some misunderstandings when it comes to asking your girlfriend to “grab that CD on the 2nd row” for example. Simple, practical and quite stylish, the unit can serve as a storage device for small objects such as books and CDs. Pixel is a new seating system from Not Tom, a small newish London-based design studio. Based on the LCD pixel, this upholstered bench can be used in commercial spaces like reception areas and can be assembled in a variety of configurations. New Aspire Timeline Notebooks

Inside the latest Acer Aspire Timeline notebooks you will find an Intel Core i5-2410M processor, plus NVIDIA GeForce GT540M graphics, and there will be a range of different display sizes which include 13 and 14 inch models.
Other specifications on this new range of Acer Aspire Timeline notebooks include USB 3.0, HDMI out, Bluetooth, DVD drives and a battery which is reported to last up to 9 hours. (at Geeky Gadgets)

Microsoft Kinect sells over 10 million units, sets a world record for fastest-selling gadget

Guinness World Records has confirmed that the Kinect for the Xbox 360 has cracked the world record for fastest selling consumer electronics device for a period of 60 days. Microsoft managed to sell an average of 133,333 Kinect units per day, making a total of 8 million units in its first 60 days of sale from 4 November 2010 to 3 January 2011.

If you think about it, this means that every hour over 5 thousand people bought the Kinect. Impressive numbers indeed, but the story doesn’t end there. Today marks the day of an even bigger achievement for Microsoft, as the company announced that they have sold their 10th million Kinect. Not only that, but along with them they sold over 10 million standalone games specially designed to makes use of the sensor, too.

In comparison, Kinect’s main rivals – the PlayStation Move and the Wii with its Wiimote can’t brag about their sales so much. PlayStation’s Move sense controller sold merely 4.1 million units for roughly 2 months (from September 20 last year, when it was launched, to November 30). And as far as the Wii goes, Nintendo reported back in January that it sold 7 million units in 2010, which doesn’t seem too good, compared to the 10 million consoles it shipped in 2008.

Macbook Pro (early 2011)

Apple's pulling the curtain off its new MacBook Pro family, and compared to the last refresh cycle, there are a serious amount of updates. Just as we had heard, all three will be getting new Intel Sandy Bridge Core i5 and i7 processors, AMD Radeon HD 6000M graphics, FaceTime HD cameras, and some super fast Thunderbolt I/O transfer speeds. There are two new 13-inchers, two 15.4-inch versions, and one lone 17-inch model. (atEngadget)

Bamboo coat-stand

This coat-stand, with its plant like appearance has smart engineered plastic moulded hanging elements. The elements can be placed freely in hight and direction on the oak stick. The hanging elements are kept in place by the friction between the element, the oak stick and a loose silicon ring. Bamboo is available with one or three sticks. (at Design Spotter)

AMP FLIP USB Flash Drive

The FLIP is an easy to carry 4 or 8GB USB flash drive. Right at the top is a hinge for it to pivot open, so when it’s closed it’s well protected. The FLIP is said to be compatible with USB 3.0, 2.0 and 1.1 and work both on Mac and PC — pretty much anything with a female end. (at Crunch Gear)

Powertrekk Fuel Cell

We’ve been hearing about using fuel cells as batteries since fuel cells existed. So far, nothing too interesting has come out. But if you’re interested in getting in on the tech early, check out the Powertrekk. The Powertrekk is a fuel cell and rechargeable battery in one. Similar to those portable battery chargers, the Powertrekk can charge your devices over USB from energy stored either in the fuel cell or the battery. 9.7-inch HP TouchPad goes official, flexes 1.2GHz dual-core muscle, runs WebOS

Well, hello webOS tablet – the HP TouchPad (that’s right, no Palm branding here) just went official. The new Touchpad, which was previously rumored as HP Topaz, is ready to impress with some excellent collaboration with its phone siblings – just tap a Pre 3 on the tablet and your call is transferred from the phone to your TouchPad over Bluetooth.

With a dual-core processor and webOS’s card-based multitasking, the HP TouchPad will eat those older tablets for breakfast...

The TouchPad uses a 9.7” touchscreen with 1024×768 (hello, iPad) and at its heart beats a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060 ticking at 1.2GHz. The Touchpad will surely need the extra power with its convenient multitasking and Flash 10.1 support in the browser.

There will be 3G-enabled models (data only), which will pack a GPS receiver, and another version with neither 3G or GPS (hello, iPad again). Interestingly, there will also be a 4G LTE version, most obviously, a nod to Verizon.

Wi-Fi b/g/n is supported either way, as is Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP. The HP TouchPad has a front-facing 1.3MP camera for video calls, but no camera on the back. A 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers and something that HP calls Beat audio engine will tale care of the audio department. There will be two options for the internal memory – 16GB and 32GB.

All that gadgetry is packed inside a 240x190x13.7mm body weighing 740 grams (those are almost the exact dimensions of the iPad). There’s a hefty 6300mAh battery feeding the dual-core CPU and big screen (HP is mum on battery life though).

The Touchstone technology is interesting – it lets the TouchPad and a compatible phone share a web page, or even transfer an SMS or phone call from the phone to the tablet. No complex set up is required, you should only put the phone over the tablet while the tablet is on its charging Touchstone dock.

The HP TouchPad supports wireless printing too (with a compatible HP printer) and there are some accessories, including a wireless keyboard and a stand that charges the TouchPad, also wirelessly.

The HP TouchPad is coming this spring with a yet unannounced price.

HP whips out a renewed, reclined TouchSmart PC series with 9300 Elite and 610

Today HP announced the TouchSmart 610 and 9300 Elite, part of the refreshed line of all-in-one TouchSmart PCs.

What’s novel about the two new all-in-one TouchSmart computers from HP is that they can have their screen recline to help with touch usability (it’s awkward to touch control a vertical monitor). The TouchSmart 9300 Elite has a screen, which reclines to a 60-degree angle, while the TouchSmart 610 supports only a 30-degree recline of its screen.

Now for the juicy specs. Both the 9300 Elite and the 610 enjoy a 23-inch LED backlit 1080p screen and can pack up to 16GB of DD3 RAM.

Powered by a range of Core i3 through Core i7 processors and running on Windows 7, the TouchSmart 9300 Elite (pictured above) is primarily aimed at business users. Its main idea is to be placed in kiosks, hotels, banks and other public places. It supports up to 1TB hard drive or an optional 160 GB SSD and as far as graphics goes, gamers won’t be pleased, since both the 9300 Elite and 610 run on integrated Intel graphics chips.

The base 610 model, on the other hand, which is aimed at the mass user, starts with a 3.2Ghz Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and 750GB of hard drive space. If you want something with a little bit more oomph, the TouchSmart 610 is upgradable to a Core i5 and 6GB of RAM.

Both the 9300 Elite and 610 will pack a Blu-Ray drive, SD card reader and a 2MP webcam.

HP TouchSmart 610

HP will start shipping the new TouchSmart 610 model in February 9 with a starting price tag of $900. As for the 9300 Elite, it will be available by the end of May. Unfortunately, no pricing information is available yet, but it’s expected it to be more expensive than the 610.
