BlackBerry news are endless today, as Vodafone announced that they’ll launch a white BlackBerry Torch in their network. And as you can see from the picture bellow it looks dead gorgeous in white.

Vodafone brags that it will be the only carrier offering the white version of the Torch in the UK. However the exact launch schedule for the cool white slider is yet unclear.

The BlackBerry PlayBook walk-through video from the other day sure was extensive but it wasn’t as impressive as expected due to its low quality. Need something truly impressive? Here it comes: another PlayBook hands-on vid but this time of great quality.

The 7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook is expected to be fairly priced (the cheapest version should be selling for $400), packs a dual-core CPU, does multi-tasking and is Flash-capable. Sounds like the tech geek’s dream come true, right?

As for the QNX-based BlackBerry Tablet OS, it sure has an eye-pleasing user interface but what is missing is the applications. And in order to make more people develop PlayBook-compatible apps, RIM decided to give away a free brand new BlackBerry PlayBook to all developers whose apps have been accepted into BlackBerry App World.



By the way, the PlayBook is said to start spreading across the US in early 2011, while the rest of the world should wait a bit longer up to Q2 2011.

Is it just me or is the BlackBerry PlayBook getting more desirable after each public appearance? This time RIM’s VP of Special Projects David Neale demonstrated that the tablet is perfectly capable of playing a FullHD video in the background, while browsing Flash-heavy websites and checking out images.

But that’s not even the most impressive part of the demonstration. What excited me the most was the fact that it was all done using just one of the two cores of the PlayBook CPU. Imagine the heights this thing can reach, when its full potential is unleashed.

In other news, Mr. Neale confirmed that 3G support for the BlackBerry slate is in the cards and they are also considering a QWERTY-enabled version of the device. Now please hurry up and get the thing to the market, RIM, would ya?

We just got pricing information on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and it’s excellent news indeed. Apparently RIM are going to deliver on their promise to release the slate with a sub-500 dollars price tag and then some.

According to the source the PlayBook will come in three different versions according to the amount of internal memory – 8GB, 16GB and 32GB (and not 16/32/64 GB as previously rumored). The first one will go for 399 US dollars while the other two will be priced at 499 USD and 599 USD respectively. Sounds like a pretty decent deal for a dual-core tablet with SVGA screen.

So this answers one of the last remaining questions about the PlayBook. Are you sold on it yet?

Okay this video comes from RIM’s own YouTube channel so you should probably take it with a bucket of salt but it’s worth checking out nonetheless. Here’s how it goes: the RIM upcoming BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and the insanely successful Apple iPad are placed side by side on a table and are then made to load several pages simultaneously.

The result is there for you to see – the PlayBook swim laps around the iPad and that’s discounting the fact that the Apple tablet lacks Flash. If the video is in fact representative of the PlayBook real capabilities and the “under 500 US dollars” price promise is kept this might very well be the tablet to get in the first half of 2011.
