The Google dev team has just announced the availability of the new YouTube app for all Android devices running on Froyo and the Gingerbread-powered Nexus S. Packing a completely redesigned user interface YouTube 2.1 for Android aims to bring you the complete desktop experience without needing to use the browser.
The key new feature brought by the YouTube 2.1 app is the in-page playback, which allows you to read video descriptions, check-out related videos, rate and post comments, while the video is playing.
Another important update is the new full-screen UI, which allows for easier and more precise forwarding and rewinding (the so-called “scrubbing”) of the currently playing video. Accessing videos from the channels you have subscribed to has also been made easier as they now pop up on the top of your recommended video list at the app start screen.
Check out the new app in action in the following short video.
