Impressive Photography by Alex Gaidouk

Alex Gaidouk is originally from Russia but currently calls Brooklyn home. Every so often a photographer will come along and take pictures that make you wish you could teleport yourself to that exact location at that exact instant just so you can feel the beauty they feel. Alex did it for me. I don't know how he does it, and honestly I don't even want to know. I'm happy enough just marveling at these beautiful shots and wishing I could be at these places too.

"Intel and AMD six-core CPUs to come in May"

I knew this will be happening eventually, but that kind of speed certainly exceeded my expectations. Apparently six-core CPUs will be flooding the market before the year has been halved. AMD and Intel both have plans of releasing those so regardless of your preferences it might be a good time to start saving.

According to DigiTimes Intel will hit first in march with its Core i7-980X. The first member of the new Gulftown family will be able to run 12 threads simultaneously but will cost north of 1000 US dollars. Ouch!

AMD will take its time until May but will release three six-core desktop processors under its new Phenom II X6 1000T series. The Phenom II X6 1075T, 1055T and 1035T, will each adopt a 45nm process, unlike their Intel competitor and its 32nm process. AMD will also update its quad-core CPU lineup with the new II X4 960T .

"Apple iPad overview: The good, the bad and the ugly"

You might be aware that Apple just announced a certain little (or not so little depending how you look at it) gadget called the Apple iPad. One only needs a quick glance to realize that it looks like a vastly oversized iPod Touch but what are its main strengths and its greatest disadvantages? Here is the way I see it:

Key features
* Magnificent 9.7” capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels
* Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity
* Optional 3G connectivity (data only)
* 1 GHz Apple A4 CPU
* iPhone OS 3.2
* 16/32/64 GB of onboard storage
* Weight of 680 grams (730 grams for the 3G version)
* Very slim 12.7mm waistline
* Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
* Haptics feedback
* 10 hours battery life and 1 month of stand-by
* Accelerometer and compass
* Compatible with every iPhone app without any modifications
* The cheapest version costs less than an unlocked iPhone
* iBook application
* The keyboard dock (purchased separately) easily converts the iPad into a nettop

Main disadvantages
* It’s not a computer but a big iPod Touch
* No multitasking
* No Flash support for the web browser
* No camera
* No standard USB port (you can get USB connectivity with an accessory but you need to pay extra)
* No real GPS receiver (though there is cell-tower triangulation)
* 130 US dollars (90 euro) for a 3G modem seems pricey
* iTunes required for uploading content
* No kickstand – it cannot stand on a table without the dock
* No USB host
* Looks pretty easy to drop
* No exchangeable battery
* Typing is quite uncomfortable
* micro-SIM, instead of regular SIM for the 3G models
* No memory card slot

With a discerning eye for detail, Marcio Kogan leads a generation that brings a new concept of architecture to Brazil. With exciting projects, he works wonderfully well with the textures of materials, creating spaces where every detail leads to perfection.

Marcio Kogan was born in São Paulo and graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from Mackenzie University in 1976. One of Kogan's greatest passions is cinema. Fan of Ingmar Bergman and Federico Fellini, he studied and served as director until he was 30, becoming a major influence on his architecture.

The sensibility he has in designing spaces is shocking. Carefully gauged in all aspects of space, Marcio Kogan has in his works a perfect harmony and balance, where each perspective, each look, can be enjoyed as rich architecture in detail. And every detail seems to be thoroughly worked, making it flawless.

The search for strong partnerships with major architects makes his work have a unique vision and the same great care of all the professionals involved. In their homes, the interior design is designed with the same particularity and details of the rest of the work.

He won many awards for several of his projects and, like Isay Weinfeld, is now one of the best architecture firms in Brazil. And as we can see in his portfolio, his career will be increasingly recognized and admired, the fact being that today his works are already an inspiration to many.
